When travelling around the countryside it’s hard to know the quality of the water you’re consuming.
More than often its untreated water which can quickly introduce bacteria and result in serious stomach problems – that’s the last thing you want when you’re travelling.
There are several different ways to filter your drinking water when caravanning:

To establish which type of water filter is the best option for your caravan, we explain what these water filters do and how they are applied:
Twin Caravan Water Filter System
Includes: 2 x Blue Outdoor Housings, Joiner and Bracket
Application: Filters all of the water used in your van: drinking, toilets, sinks and showers. Mounted outside of the caravan to avoid space constraints within the caravan. Mounting the system outside also removes the risk of the system becoming loose during transit and causing water damage within the caravan. Most commonly used as a demountable system that you detach and store whilst you’re on the move. Hose connectors are available for an additional cost.
Filtration Method: To reduce the risk of Giardia and Crypto in the water, your cartridges needs to filter down to 0.5 micron. The most successful and cost effective way to do this is to use a 0.5 micron Poly Spun Sediment Cartridge in conjunction with a 0.5 micron Silver Carbon Block Filter. The Sediment Filter acts to block dirt, grit and Giardia from entering the water, and the Carbon Filter acts to reduce any taste or odour in the water, as well as removes chemicals from the water. There are many different variations to which cartridges you can use in your system. The cartridge variations range from disposable cartridges, re-usable cartridges, different micron ratings and different filter media. Triple Caravan Water Filter System
Application: Filters all of the water used in your van: drinking, toilets, sinks and showers. Mounted outside of the caravan to avoid space constraints within the caravan. Filtration Method: This system adds an additional Pleated/Washable filter to the system that is capable of handling heavy sediment that you can find around Australia from dams/creeks, rivers and some bores. The filter protects the finer filters to avoid frequent filter changing on heavy sediment water. To reduce the risk of Giardia and Crypto in the water, your cartridges needs to filter down to 0.5 micron. The most successful and cost effective way to do this is to use a 0.5 micron Poly Spun Sediment Cartridge in conjunction with a 1 micron Carbon Block Filter. GAC Silver Inline Filter System
Includes: 1 x Refillable Inline Housing (containing Silver Activated Carbon), fitted with 1/2″ Brass Connectors and 2 White Plastic Mounting Brackets. Also comes with 2 x 1/4″ Quick Connect fittings for easy conversion to 1/4″ water lines if desired.
Application: Filters your drinking water only. Not designed for all of van water usage. Generally mounted inline, under the sink. This is a compact, non-intrusive design. Because this filter contains Silver it will not harbour bacteria like other carbon will when it is not in use. Therefore is it perfect for caravaners that may only take the van out once in a blue moon. You don’t need to take this filter out when not in use and refrigerate as is the case with most other filters. Refillable Housing makes for low replacement costs – simply purchase the Refill Pack of the replacement Silver Media. Media can last anywhere from 12 -24 months pending usage.
Filtration Method: Silver Activated Carbon is renowned for its anti-bacterial properties. Bacteria is unable to colonize in the Silver Ions. Silver carbon also helps to reduce any taste or odours that are commonly found in non-municipal water supplies.

Compact Caravan Reverse Osmosis System
Includes: Compact Reverse Osmosis System complete 6 Litre Storage Tank, Bench-top Faucet, Parts & Components
Application: Filters your drinking water only. Can be mounted under the sink, or if space is an issue extra tubing can be provided to store the tank in a separate location. Reverse Osmosis water is produced and stored in the 6 Lt tank until needed. Once water is used, the system automatically produces more water to top up the storage tank for future use.
Filtration Method: Reverse Osmosis is a very high quality method of filtration. A Reverse Osmosis membrane filters down to 0.0001 micron. This means that basically everything is stripped out of the water (including Fluoride if its present in your water supplies). The down side to R/O is that it can leave the water with a low pH. To counter this, we have incorporated the final filter to not only remove any taste and odour from the water, but also to lift the pH back up in the water.
