The High Performance Smart Monitor 5-Stage Quick-Change Alkaline RO is a compact and practical reverse osmosis system featuring a full 5-stage quick-change filter configuration that creates pure ph Neutral (pH 7) to alkaline water (pH 8), a digital dashboard with real-time water quality monitoring, set-and-forget filter reminders, and in-built leak detection. 

The Quick-Change cartridge system makes filter changes simple and easy for practically anybody to install – no more expensive call-out fees or fiddling with plumbing parts under the sink for hours - you simply twist the filters off to remove, twist and click back on to install!

The High Performance Smart Monitor system features an onboard IC micro-computer that monitors your water quality (TDS - Total Dissolved Solids), along with an inbuilt filter change reminder alarm - so you can ensure you always have the best quality water available. The Smart Monitor also features automatic leak detection and will shut off the water supply if an internal leak is detected. 

Recommended For Advanced Performance: The Compact Booster Pump

Reverse osmosis systems function best under constant high pressure. Because mains pressure tends to fluctuate, so too does the efficiency of contaminant and TDS removal in basic RO systems that are plumbed directly into town water mains. 
 
As our top-of-the-range drinking water filter, the High Performance Smart Monitor System boasts real-time water quality (TDS) readings to help ensure that you are drinking only the purest water, at all times. Under the optimal pressure conditions (a constant pressure of 500kpa or more), this filter will consistently reject up to 98% of all contaminants, thus producing possibly the sweetest, cleanest, purest, and lowest TDS water of any non-commercial reverse osmosis system available to Australian households. 
 
To ensure you achieve the ideal peak pressure required to maintain the ultimate level of filtration in your drinking water, we strongly recommend upgrading your system with the ultra-quiet Compact Booster Pump (GT13-29). The Compact Booster Pump significantly improves the operating efficiency of the High Performance system by increasing the osmotic pressure up to 620kPa (working pressure). This boosted level of osmotic pressure results in a higher contaminant rejection rate, a lower TDS reading, and improves the system’s recovery rate, thus saving on water costs by reducing the wastewater-to-drinking-water ratio. Once the RO water storage tank is full, the pump will automatically shut off to maintain an optimal hydrostatic equilibrium whilst the system is not in operation.
 

MINIMUM PRESSURE REQUIREMENTS: This system is built to withstand high pressure in order to produce high performance. It, therefore, has minimum pressure requirements which must be met prior to installation. If these minimum conditions are not met, the system may not function as specified. The minimum inlet pressure required to run this system without a booster pump is 400 kPa. Otherwise, this system will require a booster pump and a minimum inlet pressure of 275 kPa. If you are unsure whether you have sufficient inlet pressure to meet the high-performance specifications of this system, it is advised to purchase the booster pump (which will be pre-installed) along with the system.

 

Alkaline Water | The 5 Stages of Filtration | Quick Change

Stage 1: The 1 Micron Sediment Cartridge (2-46-1 ST-01) (Replace Every 6 Months)

The first stage is a 1 Micron (uM) Sediment filter composed of 100% melt-blown polypropylene fibre. This cartridge helps to help protect the carbon pre-filters and reverse osmosis membrane from physical damage caused by particulate matter such as sand, dirt, silt, plant spores, and pollen. Physical contaminants such as these (which can surprisingly be found in most municipal water supplies), tend to clog up filter system components causing reduced water flow, lower osmotic pressure, diminished filtration efficiency, and ultimately, inferior water quality. Changing this filter every 6 months is vital!

Stage 2: The Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Pre-Filter Cartridge (4-55-GAC ST-33) (Replace Every 6 Months)

The second stage is a high-grade granular activated carbon pre-filter. This type of loosely-packed carbon enables a high level of water flow through the system, whilst "taking the first hit" to absorb harmful organic chemicals and contaminants. Keeping up with regular maintenance of this pre-filter (changing it every 6 months) helps to extend the life of all filters that come after it, including the reverse osmosis membrane.

Stage 3: The 5 Micron Coconut Carbon QC Cartridge (4-55-CTO ST-CTO) (Replace Every 12 Months)

The third stage is a 5-micron high-grade coconut carbon block pre-filter. Similar to the GAC filter, but with a unique carbon block matrix for maximum surface area and contact time, this special carbon cartridge takes the biggest load of contaminant removal, prior to the membrane. Replace every 12 months. 

Stage 4: The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Cartridge (50GPD Filmtec) (13-RO50 ST-RO50) (Replace according to Smart Monitor Water Quality Reminders - 3-5 Years)

The RO membrane is the "engine room" of this high-performance system, where all the hard work of removing ultra-fine micro-particles, metal ions, and dissolved mineral salts takes place to achieve the maximum level of chemical and contaminant reduction, down to 0.0001 of a micron. Because Reverse Osmosis is such a fine level of filtration, it requires incredibly high levels of osmotic pressure, which also explains why we use three pre-filters to help protect the membrane from getting clogged or internally damaged by fine particulate matter.
 
Now, unlike standard RO systems that rely on guesswork to determine when you need to change the membrane, our High Performance Smart Monitor features a built-in, programmable TDS meter that constantly monitors the quality of water being produced by the RO membrane. Thus, once the Smart Monitor detects an abnormally high TDS reading (40 ppm), the filter reminder alarm will sound to indicate that the membrane has exhausted its capacity, and requires replacing. This feature can also be programmed according to your preferred TDS output rating, or according to a pre-set time schedule (i.e. 3 years). The ability to monitor the ongoing TDS of your water means that you can rest assured that you are drinking a consistently high quality of water, and depending on the quality of your water source, you may be able to get up to 5 years out of your RO membrane!

Stage 5: Dual Finishing Cartridge: Japanese Activated Coconut Carbon/Calcium Alkalising Post-Filter (4-55-ALK ST-34ALK) - (Replace Every 12 Months)

The last stage features the finest grade of Japanese activated coconut carbon to ensure the purest taste, which then passes through calcite (CaCO³) alkalising media to raise and buffer the final pH to between 7-8, without causing hardness. Note that upon installation, a new Calcium Alkalising cartridge may register an initial pH higher than 8, but it will quickly balance out.

Our Thoughts on Fluoride

Fluoride is a hot topic all across Australia and the entire world. Unfortunately, whether or not you agree or disagree with the fluoridation of drinking water, most municipalities add it in!

Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration is the safest and most effective solution to remove Fluoride from your drinking water. Fluoride is a proven neurotoxin as shown in countless credible studies in the US. The claimed dental health benefits are irrelevant compared to the known and proven correlation between fluoridated water and Chronic Disease.

Reverse Osmosis water filtration is able to remove Fluoride from the water as it is a Mineral Salt. Mineral salts will pass straight through standard filtration however the 0.0001 Micron RO membranes are able to remove Fluoride along with other impurities in the water.

The Misconception of “Re-Mineralising & Alkalising”

Reverse Osmosis water filtration comes with an ongoing debate in regards to the statements “RO water is too pure” and “RO removes minerals that are beneficial and essential for health” Both of these statements are deceptive and to the everyday person sounds like fact, but please let us explain both of these statements. The misconception being water that is “Too Pure” is all to do with the pH of the water (although the “experts” will state things much more dramatically). Water that is “too pure” simply is water that contains little to no minerals and impurities. However, this can leave the water acidic which is not ideal for drinking. The solution, use an alkalising or pH neutralising filter. This is where the word "valuable minerals" has crept into the selling of Reverse Osmosis filtration by sellers that are not equipped with the appropriate knowledge.  In fact, minerals are only valuable when they are IN our bodies, and the way they get there is through organic food intake - not inorganically. Water Filtration uses Inorganic methods, so any mention of "re-mineralizing" the water through water filtration is simply not a process that is benefiting our bodies at all. More of which will be explained later.  A study in the US (which cost manufacturers many millions of dollars) showed a massive increase in total dissolved solids (TDS) in patients’ urine, when drinking water with a pH of below 7 (i.e. acidic water).  The two main culprits for water having a pH of lower than 7 are:  1. Reverse Osmosis  2. Water Distillers for drinking water  Other substances causing a low pH are soft drinks and alcohol.  Once minerals are extracted from water, the chemistry of water adjusts violently to become acidic. This happens because the buffers in the water that generally act to prevent this adjustment have been removed.  An interesting fact is that rain water that is near pure is also very acidic until it reaches the ground – once it reaches the ground it begins to dissolve minerals from the earth, this in turn balances the pH (the chemistry of the water).  Many very clean catchments such as roof tops and clean gutters, first flush diverters and poly tanks are extremely good at keeping water clean - however a trade-off for this is that the water could and most often does remain acidic.  If you have a dirty roof or a contaminated tank, the pH will rise and no longer be aggressive (acidic) but at a price – such as through other peripheral problems like fermentation of organics etc.  Back onto the topic at hand, it’s important that we make a stand and explain that there are no such thing as valuable minerals in drinking water unless they are organic, and organic materials are generally not used for correcting low pH water.  Almost all (barring a couple of exotic and expensive alternatives) pH Neutralising cartridges are made from inorganic material like rock (commonly known as mineral stones).  These inorganic materials release either calcium or magnesium into the water, however these types of minerals are inorganic, not organic - so it's difficult for the body to absorb them or make any use of them at all.  So, in a nut shell, the words 'valuable minerals' is not relevant to post RO pH correction.  Filter Systems Australia does not deal in myths and magic. There are people selling all sorts of "living water products", with all sorts of mythical results, but consider this:  The body needs hydration plain and simple. Now that is pure logic - not sales talk. The best form of hydration is clean, chemical free and impurity free H2O. Exactly as nature intended.  However, a down side to producing this sort of water is that stripping the water as we do, causes the water to become acidic again (back to its rain water condition). So, what's needed at this point is a trade-off...  To produce non-acidic water we need to add back some mineral, this is where the misconception arises. These are non-organic minerals, therefore not valuable to your bodies health, but valuable in the fact that it's achieving a balanced pH - which is vital to your health.

With all of this said, we have once again taken things a step further by producing a system that ticks all the health boxes. You get Alkaline Water, Chemical and Toxin Free, Fluoride Free, Great tasting water.

Return Policy

Due to the nature of the products we sell, a strict return policy is in place. We work with food grade certified materials that must be un-opened and un-used as to be able to be re-sold.

You may receive a refund or credit of equal amount, less the restocking fee if applicable and any other deductions that are relevant. 

  • Wrongly purchased items may be returned for a merchandise credit, this applies for but not limited to: Wrong size, wrong system etc.
  • 30 Day return Policy:  Returns will not be accepted without prior approval or after 30 days of invoice date.
  • All returns will incur a 17.5% restocking fee or cost to send the item to you whichever greater. FSA may use discretion to determine the restocking fee.
  • Any damages (minor, that can be repaired) will incur a fee which will be deducted from the total refund which will be equal to the cost of the replacement 
    parts (List Price) and labour charge (if applicable) to repair the system(s). This will be separate to the restocking fee.
  • Any damage considered to be major and not feasible for repair may be refused and the return request will be void. The customer will be responsible for the return freight or disposal of the damaged unit.
  • Return shipping is to be paid by the buyer to the address provided. It is recommended that the customer applies transit warranty to the return freight in case of damage.
  • Any damages to the system that were not reported to FSA within 48 business hours of receipted delivery are not covered under our transit warranty.

 

  • Should the item appear faulty or doesn’t work how described, the unit/item must be returned for testing (if requested), the return postage paid by the buyer. If the unit/item is deemed to be faulty, compensation will be provided for the postage cost (Proof of cost required). If the unit/item is deemed to be in working order and as described, the buyer will responsible for return postage.
