Dual Coconut Carbon Filtration

Chlorine is becoming more of a difficult chemical to remove from water these days due to the additives and fortifiers being used to increase the effectiveness of chlorine & residual chlorine in municipal town water. Free chlorine can be easily removed from water with minimal contact time, however now most municipal water supplies in Australia are using Monochloramine. Monochloramine is an ammonia bonded Chlorine molecule (NH2Cl) which is an inorganic compound. While monochloramine is noted to produce lower (but still present) levels of chlorocarbons and carbon tetrachloride levels, there are other known health risks that can be far more serious.

Adding Chloramine to the water supply can increase exposure to lead in drinking water, especially in areas with older infrastructure. Australia has a large percentage of old buildings where this can be a serious risk. In some cases with older buildings, it has been noted that the mixture of monochloramine and Fluorosilicic Acid can even dissolve metals such as copper pipes, causing green/blue staining in the water and damaging plumbing.

LPD 2510-20 Low Pressure Drop Coconut Carbon

Pure's LPD range of Coconut Carbon filters are increasing in popularity on the filtration market due to their unique properties. The 20 Micron rating allows the sediment/particle capacity to increase, ensuing the filter goes the distance as a pre-filter. To compensate for the lack of micron filtration, the LPD carbon filters use a higher iodine count coconut carbon media to increase its chemical absorption capacity. The LPD carbon soaks up any free chlorine, VOC's and taste/odour in the water and takes load of the final 0.5 micron catalytic carbon filter.

CRC 2510-P5 Chloramine Reduction Catalytic Carbon

Pure's CRC range of Coconut Carbon filters are a market leader when it comes to the reduction of monochloramine from municipal water. Boasting a 0.5 micron nominal rating, this filter has a huge advantage due to the highly reactive surface area of the composite carbon designed to denature and neutralise chloramine with minimal contact time. With a huge chlorine filtration capacity of 95,000L it rivals other brands even in the 20" x 4.5" size for its holding capacity and performance. The filter is capable of reducing the maximum level of monochloramine for 3,800L - easily achieving a filter life of 12 months at over 10L per day of filtration.
