Replacing One Stop Plus cartridges? This is the pack
The ScaleSoft® SS-10 in this pack is the direct replacement for your One Stop Plus GT4-79C. It fits the same housing and needs no changes to the plumbing or the fittings.
One thing does change, and it is worth reading before you start: the cartridges go in a different order.

ScaleSoft® has an inlet limit of 3 mg/L free chlorine, and the carbon block is what keeps the water inside it. Putting the carbon in the middle housing means the scale control cartridge receives dechlorinated water and can run its full service life. One Stop Plus was specified for the middle housing with a filter after it; ScaleSoft® carries no such requirement, so it takes the last position.

What each cartridge does
Stage 1. Sediment, 5 micron polyspun (GT2-2K)
Holds back dirt, silt and rust particles before they reach the carbon block. A carbon block loaded with fine sediment stops working before its media is spent.
Stage 2. Carbon, 1 micron coconut carbon block (GT4-6CTO)
Reduces chlorine, taste and odour before the water reaches the scale control stage and the appliance.
Stage 3. ScaleSoft®, salt-free scale control (SS-10)
Conditions the calcium and magnesium so they stay in suspension rather than depositing on the boiler, the group head and the heating element.
Changing over
Will it fit my system?
Yes. Every cartridge in this pack is a standard 10" x 2.5" size and drops straight into the housings you already have. Nothing on the plumbing, the bracket or the fittings changes.
What is actually different?
One cartridge and one position. ScaleSoft® SS-10 replaces the One Stop Plus GT4-79C, and it goes in the last housing rather than the middle one. The carbon block moves forward into the middle housing to make room. The sediment filter stays where it is.
Why does the order change?
ScaleSoft® has an inlet limit of 3 mg/L free chlorine, and the carbon block is what keeps the water inside it. Running the carbon first means the scale control cartridge sees dechlorinated water and can run its full service life. One Stop Plus was specified for the middle housing with a filter after it; ScaleSoft® carries no such requirement.
Do I have to change all three at once?
Not necessarily. The sediment and carbon cartridges come round more often than the scale control cartridge does, so there will be changes where only the front two are due. This pack is the full set, for when the ScaleSoft® cartridge is due as well.

Commercial sites run more water through the system, so the intervals are shorter. The two pre-filters are driven by how much sediment and chlorine the supply carries rather than by the calendar alone, so a heavily loaded supply may need them sooner again.
The intervals do not match, which is why the sediment and carbon cartridges will sometimes be due on their own. This pack is the full set, for when the ScaleSoft® cartridge is due as well.
The minerals stay in the water, and for coffee that matters
The minerals dissolved in water are part of how flavour is extracted from coffee grounds. Water with the mineral content stripped out tends to produce thin, hollow and sour results, and it is not something that can be corrected at the grinder. Brewing water guidance in the industry targets a range of mineral content rather than none, which is why coffee is not brewed with distilled water.
This is the reason a water softener is not the right choice ahead of a coffee machine. A softener works by ion exchange: it removes the calcium and magnesium and puts sodium in their place. That addresses scale, but it also removes the minerals that extraction depends on.
ScaleSoft® removes nothing and adds nothing. It is not a water softener and uses no ion exchange, no salt and no sodium. It changes the form the hardness takes, conditioning the calcium and magnesium into stable crystals that stay suspended and pass through the machine instead of bonding to hot metal. The mineral content of the water is unchanged, so extraction is unaffected.
Because the minerals remain in the water, you may still see marks where it is left to dry on a surface. They are far less adherent than untreated scale and wipe off. This is scale control, not mineral removal.
Fitting the cartridges
- Turn off the supply and release the pressure before opening a housing.
- Fit the cartridges in the order above, working in the direction of flow.
- Check the housing o-rings while the housings are open and replace them if they are flattened or nicked.
- Flush the new set before use until the water runs clear.
Important notes
ScaleSoft® conditions water to prevent and reduce scale, but it does not remove calcium or magnesium from the water. It is not a disinfection or purification device, and it is not an ion exchange water softener. Scale control is its only function on this system.
Use on potable mains or treated water supplies. For other water supplies, talk to us first. Private or untreated supplies need a current water analysis before we can recommend cartridges, and you can start with a water analysis if you are not sure what you are treating.

Stage Order
Position in the system. ScaleSoft® takes the final housing, with the carbon block ahead of it. The order is sediment, then carbon filter, then ScaleSoft®. This differs from how the system was originally supplied, where One Stop Plus sat in the middle housing and the carbon block came last.
Usage Guidelines
- Use on potable mains or treated water supplies. For other water supplies, talk to us first.
- Private or untreated supplies need a current water analysis before we can recommend cartridges.
- Replace the ScaleSoft® cartridge sooner than the interval above if you notice a reduced effect.
- Suits the GT1-3TCM system only. These are 10" x 2.5" cartridges and will not fit 10" x 4.5" or 20" x 4.5" housings.

Return Policy
Due to the nature of the products we sell, a strict return policy is in place. We work with food grade certified materials that must be un-opened and un-used as to be able to be re-sold.
You may receive a refund or credit of equal amount, less the restocking fee if applicable and any other deductions that are relevant.
- Wrongly purchased items may be returned for a merchandise credit, this applies for but not limited to: Wrong size, wrong system etc.
- 30 Day return Policy: Returns will not be accepted without prior approval or after 30 days of invoice date.
- All returns will incur a 17.5% restocking fee or cost to send the item to you whichever greater. FSA may use discretion to determine the restocking fee.
- Any damages (minor, that can be repaired) will incur a fee which will be deducted from the total refund which will be equal to the cost of the replacement
parts (List Price) and labour charge (if applicable) to repair the system(s). This will be separate to the restocking fee. - Any damage considered to be major and not feasible for repair may be refused and the return request will be void. The customer will be responsible for the return freight or disposal of the damaged unit.
- Return shipping is to be paid by the buyer to the address provided. It is recommended that the customer applies transit warranty to the return freight in case of damage.
- Any damages to the system that were not reported to FSA within 48 business hours of receipted delivery are not covered under our transit warranty.
- Should the item appear faulty or doesn’t work how described, the unit/item must be returned for testing (if requested), the return postage paid by the buyer. If the unit/item is deemed to be faulty, compensation will be provided for the postage cost (Proof of cost required). If the unit/item is deemed to be in working order and as described, the buyer will responsible for return postage.
