Triple Whole House Heavy Metal & Hard Water Filter System | 20" x 4.5"
A three-stage whole house system that adds lead and heavy metal reduction to the carbon stage. It fits a GT4-19LRCP5 adsorbent carbon block, a 20" x 4.5" sediment filter and a ScaleSoft® SS-20B scale-control cartridge, pre-assembled on a stainless steel bracket with pressure gauges fitted.
The metal reduction is what you are paying for here. On taste, odour and chlorine this system performs the same as the standard GT1-108-SS, because the GT4-19CTO block already handles free chlorine. If metals are not part of your specification, that model does the same job for less.
Who this system is for
Lead and other heavy metals are picked up from the plumbing water passes through rather than from the treatment plant, so a filter on your side of the meter is what addresses them.
- Older plumbing. Lead solder was used on copper joints in Australian homes for decades, and brass fittings can contain it.
- Industrial or former industrial areas. Where soil and groundwater carry a legacy, the risk of pickup is higher.
- A specification that names metals. Some tenancy, childcare and food handling requirements ask for it directly.
- A water analysis that came back with something. Send us the report and we will go through it with you.
What the block reduces. Free chlorine, plus lead and other heavy metals, and a 0.5 micron particle cut. It sits in the middle housing, ahead of the scale-control cartridge.
Check your supply first
This model suits chlorinated mains. If your supply is treated with chloramine, GT1-SS-20B-CRC is the one to order, because that needs a catalytic block and this one does not carry it.
Disinfectant is chosen by the network operator, not by state or council, so two houses in one city can be on different supplies.
Red is where the network operator uses chloramine, including networks where only part of the system does, and that is the GT1-SS-20B-CRC case rather than this one. Purple means the operator does not publish which disinfectant it uses, the area sits on a changeover boundary, or the supply uses neither. It does not mean the water is untreated. Grey is not assessed. Classification is by local government area, so a boundary on the map is a council boundary, not a pipe.

LRC is this system, GT1-SS-20B-LRC. CRC is GT1-SS-20B-CRC, which fits a catalytic block for chloramine.
Network boundaries do not follow council boundaries, and operators change practice. Check your provider's water quality report if you want to be certain. Anywhere we have not named above, we default to the CRC, because a catalytic block reduces free chlorine as well and is never the wrong cartridge. If you want metal reduction and your area is not listed, call us before you order.
Supply pressure: 350 kPa to 500 kPa
The adsorbent block is 0.5 micron and needs pressure behind it to run at rated flow. Check your supply before ordering.
If your pressure is under 350 kPa, or you have not measured it, call us. GT4-19LRC05 is the same media at 5 micron and we can build the system with that instead. We sell a pressure test kit if you need one.
What is the issue with hard water?
- It builds up inside kettles, dishwashers and coffee machines, and shortens their working life.
- It coats the elements in hot water systems and the inside of your pipework.
- It leaves spotting and film on taps, shower screens and glassware.
How hard your water is depends on where your supply comes from. Hardness varies widely between regions.
How the scale-control stage works
Step 1. Water enters the cartridge. Hard water carries scale-forming calcium and magnesium, which are attracted to the ScaleSoft® media.
Step 2. The media converts those minerals into microscopic, stable crystals. Once the crystals become too large, they detach from the media.
Step 3. The crystals stay suspended and flow through with the water, instead of bonding to your pipes and elements.
Worth knowing. ScaleSoft® conditions hardness rather than removing it. It is a scale-control cartridge, not an ion exchange softener, which is why it needs no salt, no power and no drain.
Where each cartridge sits
The order is sediment, then carbon filter, then ScaleSoft®. Chlorine, taste, odour and metals are dealt with before the water reaches the scale-control media, which helps that cartridge run its full service life.

Important notes
ScaleSoft® conditions water to prevent and reduce scale, but it does not remove calcium or magnesium from the water. You may still see these minerals on surfaces where water is allowed to dry. Those deposits are less adherent and easier to clean than untreated water. On glass shower screens, squeegee or dry the glass after use to prevent spotting.
ScaleSoft® reduces the formation of hard mineral scale. It is not a disinfection or purification device, and it is not an ion exchange water softener. Suitable for mains and treated water.
The metal reduction is the carbon stage's job. The two stages do different work, and the adsorbent sits in the block rather than in the scale-control cartridge.
Hardness figures. The ceiling quoted for the scale-control cartridge is carbonate hardness, which is not the total hardness that water authorities publish, so your supply's figure should not be read against ours. Send us your report if you want it checked.

Usage Guidelines
- Use on potable mains or treated water supplies only.
- For rainwater tank supplies, talk to us first. Some water sources need testing or pre-treatment before installation.
- Installation must comply with local plumbing codes, and the system should only be connected to the cold water line.
- Protect the system from freezing and do not expose it to temperatures below the minimum operating temperature.
- Flush the system for 30 seconds after periods of non-use exceeding 48 hours.
- Replace the scale control cartridge every 2 years, or sooner if you experience reduced effect or notice sediment build-up. Sediment and carbon cartridges are replaced on their own schedules.
Installation
Position in the system. ScaleSoft® takes the final housing, with the carbon block ahead of it. The order is sediment, then carbon filter, then ScaleSoft®. This deals with chlorine, taste, odour and metals before the water reaches the scale-control media, which helps the cartridge run its full service life.
Pressure. Supply above 500 kPa requires a pressure reduction valve fitted ahead of the system. Below 350 kPa to 500 kPa, ask us about the GT4-19LRC05 build instead.
Certification. This system is certified to WaterMark Standard AS 3497:2021 under Certificate Number 23247. Installation must be carried out by a qualified plumber or authorised technician to comply with Australian Plumbing Codes.
WARNING. For correct operation of this system it is essential to observe the manufacturer's instructions.
CAUTION. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

** Service flow is the scale control cartridge's rated flow, and is the figure to size the system on. Peak flow can maintain scale protection for several minutes of constant flow, and is not the maximum flow rate of the cartridge. Flow exceeding peak flow may have a reduced scale protection effect. Maximum flow is the housing's hydraulic limit, not a treatment rating.

Return Policy
Due to the nature of the products we sell, a strict return policy is in place. We work with food grade certified materials that must be un-opened and un-used as to be able to be re-sold.
You may receive a refund or credit of equal amount, less the restocking fee if applicable and any other deductions that are relevant.
- Wrongly purchased items may be returned for a merchandise credit, this applies for but not limited to: Wrong size, wrong system etc.
- 30 Day return Policy: Returns will not be accepted without prior approval or after 30 days of invoice date.
- All returns will incur a 17.5% restocking fee or cost to send the item to you whichever greater. FSA may use discretion to determine the restocking fee.
- Any damages (minor, that can be repaired) will incur a fee which will be deducted from the total refund which will be equal to the cost of the replacement
parts (List Price) and labour charge (if applicable) to repair the system(s). This will be separate to the restocking fee. - Any damage considered to be major and not feasible for repair may be refused and the return request will be void. The customer will be responsible for the return freight or disposal of the damaged unit.
- Return shipping is to be paid by the buyer to the address provided. It is recommended that the customer applies transit warranty to the return freight in case of damage.
- Any damages to the system that were not reported to FSA within 48 business hours of receipted delivery are not covered under our transit warranty.
- Should the item appear faulty or doesn’t work how described, the unit/item must be returned for testing (if requested), the return postage paid by the buyer. If the unit/item is deemed to be faulty, compensation will be provided for the postage cost (Proof of cost required). If the unit/item is deemed to be in working order and as described, the buyer will responsible for return postage.
