Triple Whole House Hard Water, Heavy Metal & Chlorine Reduction Filter System

What is water hardness & limescale and why should you treat it?

“Hard Water” contains high levels of naturally-occurring dissolved minerals, such as Calcium and Magnesium. When dissolved in water, these minerals form sticky “scale” crystals that can cause the following problems:

  • Scale can clog pipes and build up in and around fixtures such as taps and toilets;
  • Scale has a tendency to form in hot water systems and appliances such as washing machines, kettles and coffee machines;
  • Scale bonds with detergents to form soap scum which leaves a film and prevents proper cleaning (i.e white spots on glass, white soap scum residue on clothing).

The level of hardness in your water depends on where your water supply comes from. For example, bore water is a common source of water hardness, and many geographical regions (i.e. Western Australia and South Australia) are renowned for soils with high mineral content.

If you live in an area with hard water, consider whether a Triple Whole House Hard Water Conditioning System with a Sediment, Carbon and OneStop Plus™ Water Conditioning Cartridge is the best option to reduce not only Chlorine and chemicals, but to help you combat the effects of scale build-up in your home!

The OneStop Plus™ system is a water conditioner designed to protect open circuit piping from limescale deposits. It can be installed as a Point-of-Entry device, for both cold and hot water, or as a Point-of-Use device, installed directly before the equipment that needs to receive treated water (saunas, dishwashers, washing machines, coffee machines, etc.). OneStop Plus™ media is a proprietary blend of two resins designed to treat hardness/scale build up and reduce heavy metals. This media is fit for use with drinking water, and tested as compliant to the following certifications:

How It Works

OneStop Plus™ prevents limescale by interacting with the calcium carbonate molecules, turning them into harmless soft crystals. These soft carbonate crystals continue to flow with the water, however post-treatment, these molecules exhibit a significantly reduced ability to adhere to surfaces, and are simply washed away down the drain. At the same time, these soft crystals “snowball” their way through the water, attracting free calcium carbonate molecules and dramatically reducing existing limescale deposits.

Balanced Water Chemistry for Corrosion Prevention

A significant advantage of the OneStop Plus™ system is that it retains the natural minerals in the water, maintaining the water’s mineral balance. This balanced saturation helps prevent the corrosive conditions commonly associated with conventional salt-based water softeners, which strip minerals and can destabilize water chemistry. This ensures your water remains safe for piping and appliances while mitigating limescale problems.

Important Notes

While the OneStop Plus™ system effectively conditions water to prevent and reduce limescale deposits, it does not remove calcium or magnesium from the water. Users may still observe the presence of these minerals, such as calcium deposits on surfaces if the water is allowed to dry. However, these deposits are less adherent and easier to clean compared to untreated water. For best results in these areas such as glass shower screens, it is recommeneded to squeegee or dry the glass after use to prevent spotting.

For optimal performance, consider pairing the OneStop Plus™ with a carbon filter upgrade to further reduce chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants.

By choosing the OneStop Plus™ system, you are opting for an environmentally friendly, low-maintenance, and highly effective solution to combat the effects of hard water while preserving your water’s natural balance and essential minerals.

For a full list of technical specifications, including installation information, see Specs/Performance Tab.

Heavy Metal Reduction

As an added bonus, OneStop Plus™ media has the secondary effect of adsorbing heavy metals, without leaching them back into the water! For the best results in this system, and for added peace of mind, we strongly recommend selecting the optional Carbon Filter upgrade to the 0.5 Micron Lead and Heavy Metals Reduction Cartridge (pictured below), which will help reduce heavy metals for even better heavy metal reduction results!

NOTE: Above results based on OSP cartridge only. Additional performance possible when utilising GT4-19LRC

Usage Guidelines

  • Use on potable water supplies only
  • Ensure the system is protected from freezing and not exposed to temperatures below 0°C.
  • Installation must comply with local plumbing codes, and the system should only be connected to the cold water line.
  • Regular filter cartridge replacement is necessary for optimal performance. The frequency of replacement may vary based on chlorine, sediment, and organic substance levels in the water.
  • Replace filter cartridges every 6-12 months, or sooner if you notice changes in taste, odour, or water flow.
  • Caution: Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection

Installation Note:
Like all products, a water filter system or tap has a finite lifespan and may eventually experience failure. In some cases, failure can occur earlier than expected due to unforeseen factors. To prevent potential property damage, it's important to regularly inspect the system for signs of leakage or deterioration and replace it as needed. For installations where leakage could lead to damage, it's recommended to use a drain pan connected to a suitable drain or equipped with a leak detector. Additionally, it's advisable to turn off the water supply when the property is unoccupied.

Installation

Certification - WaterMark
For correct operation of this appliance, it is essential to observe the manufacturer’s instructions. Installation must be carried out by a qualified plumber or authorised technician to comply with Australian Plumbing Codes. This filter system is certified to WaterMark Standards AS 3497 Under the Certificate number 23247. WaterMark certification is the level of certification required by law for a licensed plumber in Australia to install a water filter system.

Site Preparation
Whole House Filter Systems should be installed in close proximity to the incoming cold water line. Allow enough space to install a raw water bypass for the filtration system so the system can be isolated for maintenance or downtime.
The installation location should be protected from harsh environments where overeposure to excessive heat, direct slilight, snow, direct contact with water and freezing conditions can occur. Ensure the location has adequate drainage and water leaking will not cause damage to other property.

Suitable Connections
Whole House Systems (4.5” Dia) are supplied usually with 1” BSP ports (Female) for installation. As standard they are supplied in left to right configuration (flow direction) unless otherwise specified. It is important that a suitable fitting is used for the installation into the housing port.
DO NOT liquid thread sealant during installation, as it may come into contact with the plastic cap material, which is not chemically compatible. Exposure to such sealants can cause the plastic to degrade over time, leading to eventual failure. Please note that damage caused by liquid thread sealant is not covered under warranty.
Thread tape is the only form of sealing material permitted for use on these housings. Alternatively, you can also use a suitable 1” BSP fitting with an O-ring for sealing.

Filter Protection Equipment
If your main water line does not have a Pressure Limiting Device (PLV) to regulate pressure to 500 kPa, one must be installed prior to the filtration system to comply with Australian Plumbing Codes and FSA Warranty. Failure to install a PLV could result in excessive pressure and potential damage to the housings.

Additionally, it is recommended to install an anti-water hammer device to reduce the impact of water hammer, which is commonly caused by appliances such as washing machines. The device should ideally be installed at the source of the hammer, such as on the cold-water line leading to the washing machine or dishwasher.

Maintenance & Filter Replacements
Filters should be changed on an annual basis (excl OSP which is 2 years). During filter changes, the housings should be cleaned in warm soapy water and then rinsed thorougly. During cleaning, inspect the sump/housing all over for any signs of wear and tear that may compromise the integrity of the housing. Crazing in the plastic are signs that a weak point may be developing due to operating conditions and may require replacement. O-Ring seals should be changed every 2 years or every 2nd filter change - whichever occurs first.
Refer to installation manual for full instructions.

For full & comprehensive installation instructions - please view or download the manual from the Instructions & Brochure Tab
